The Studio!! | Northern Virginia Newborn Photographer

I can’t believe I am finally writing this post!!! Although I’ve been doing a ton of sessions this summer, it’s been pretty quiet here on the blog. The reason is that I’ve been busy getting my studio ready! As of the this past week, it’s open for business. Yay! After four and a half years of traveling to my client’s homes for newborn sessions, I now have a space all set up and ready to host my littlest clients. 🙂 After looking at commercial real estate for two years, I decided that for the size I wanted, it was just too cost prohibitive to rent. My husband and I decided to add on to our home so that it’s an investment. And really, the commute is pretty fabulous!! I love this space.  In addition to newborn sessions, it will be a wonderful option for portraits when the weather isn’t cooperating. It’s also perfect for older baby sessions, cake smash sessions, holiday themed mini-sessions and yes, even boudoir sessions!

Here is the waiting room where clients can relax while I photograph their little one. Isn’t the vintage couch fabulous?! It also makes a great spot for portraits.I have lots of toys for little ones to play with. And here is the main shooting room. It’s so big and spacious.. I LOVE it! I can have several sets set up and easily move baby around without disturbing them. I get a ton of beautiful natural light in there, but the big soft box and light is ready for overcast days or evening sessions. I’m prepared for anything. The back walls, which aren’t pictured,  are perfect spots for family shots. One is painted a beautiful light gray, and the other a soft cream color. Both get lovely light!Think I need more hats and headbands? 😉My husband is particularly excited about the prop room because it means he doesn’t have to share his car with flokati rugs, baskets, and knit hats. LOL. There is also a changing table in here stocked with diapers, wipes, etc. I even have a Boppy on hand for nursing mamas. Here is the little kitchenette. I’m still waiting on the upper cabinets to be installed, but you get the idea. I’ve got the mini fridge stocked with cold drinks. And most importantly for new parents (and the photographer) COFFEE!  There is even a bottle warmer. Here is the landing area where clients arrive after they come in the separate entrance and up the stairs. I still need to hang that picture, but it’s missing a hook and I couldn’t wait any longer to share my space. 🙂 More photos coming soon!
